This week Pastor Mike is taking on the challenge of answering your questions. Hold on to your hats, this is gonna be a wild week. Today he tackles the debate between creation and evolution. What are the differences between the two? Why do Christians trust what the Bible says about creation?

  1. It may be a simple argument, but I usually ask, where did the elements come from that were responsible for the, "Big Bang?"The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. – Psalm 19:1

    • +Bible Munch Time is a property of the Universe there was nothing responsible as that would infer something preceding time itself.

  2. This is a tightrope that I walk every day both personally and professionally. It is not turn-off-off-your-brain-drink-the-kool-aid thoughtless disregard for the evidence. Quite the opposite. Jesus tells us that the greatest commandment is to "love the Lord with all of . . . your mind" (Matt 22:37, Mark 12:30) but we are also warned to "lean not on your own understanding" (Proverbs 3:5). I think that it is important to recognize that evolution is happening. It's a fact. I can demonstrate it to you over a weekend. So, to frame the argument as creation vs. evolution is to put us in an indefensible position. What we are really differing on is a question of origin. How this party got started, and when, are much more fruitful discussion points. Origin is both more interesting and more important for my faith. Evolution is a fascinating control knob that God has built into His creation.I could go on and on . . .

  3. I am always amazed at how anyone can believe evolution. As you study all that God made, you cannot help but be amazed. Only God could create such a profoundly intricate world.

  4. As someone who has never been religious, i have believed in evolution, from my understanding of what i have researched, you believe the earth was created in 6 days, there have been proven cases that planets take millions of years to form, so to say that not only the earth but everything on it was created in 6 days, seems like a stretch, that is what my take on it is, I am not trying to be disrespectful only attempting to voice my opinion, that is based on research.

    • +max rhodes We believe in God who can do amazing things – including create the world in 6 regular days. His power is awesome!

  5. wow, I just did on a chapter on evolution in biology. I've been opposing the topic of evolution for years, wondering how to disprove it. I guess I found some valuable knowledge here.

    • My mother is Christian and she accepts evolution. She says that we don't know how long a day was and that a day could have equaled millions of years. All evolution is is change over time. You don't have to be an atheist to accept evolution.

    • You are going about it the wrong way if you are trying to oppose/disprove evolution in favor of something else. If you want to prove creation you should focus on supporting that with facts, not trying to undermine a weakly related science.

  6. As this video is really designed for christians, I don't want to butt in where I'm not welcome. However, the topic of this video is close to my heart, as back when I was a christian at university, I made essentially the same arguments this pastor is making in a first year philosophy essay on the existence of god. (except I think I said 10 to the power of 69, not 70)When I handed my essay in I remember thinking I had nailed it. I looked forward to a top score. But when I got my essay back, my professor ( a religious person) hadn't given me a very good mark! What??? When I read their comments – BANG – it hit me. They were right. I was wrong. These arguments that I had been peddling were misinformed. I was an honest, intelligent person, I couldn't ignore it. What else that I had been taught that was wrong? This was the first step into my deconversion from religion as it gave me the license to think freely. I am thankful to that professor to this day for helping me find my way out. If anyone wants to discuss it, you can reply here.

    • +narco73 God is wiser than our flawed human logic. There are big questions that science cannot answer. We have faith in God. We trust that his word is truth.

    • +Your Time of Grace Hi, did you delete some of our conversation, or is youtube playing up?

    • +narco73 We are seeing all the conversations. Not sure what happened.

    • +Your Time of Grace I see them in google notifications (under the bell in the top right, in the desktop version of youtube), but when I look under the actual video it says there are 7 replies (previous to this one), but I only see 5.Oh well, and don't worry, I believe you that you didn't delete/hide them 🙂

  7. Got a Question. .is it wrong to put people in God's hands and let him deal with it and you forgot what they did to you or someone else?or will you be punished for it?

    • +Sue Morgan It is good to forgive those who sin against us, just as Jesus forgave you! Yes, let God be the judge of them. Hebrews 4:12 says, " For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart."

    • +Sue Morgan No, the Bible does not say that it is a sin for a married woman to have male friends. The Bible does say other things about marriage such as: "Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate." Mark 10:9 and "Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral." Hebrews 13:4 Those might be some passages to remember as you interact with male friends.

    • +Sue MorganIf your husband is the jealous type, I would advise against it. Seriously, it would be awful if your husband got into a fight with your male friend, and you had to help defend your husband by grabbing the other guy's kibbles and bits. According to Deuteronomy 25:11-12, you would get your hand lopped off.Deuteronomy 25:11-12If two men are fighting and the wife of one of them comes to rescue her husband from his assailant, and she reaches out and seizes him by his private parts, you shall cut off her hand. Show her no pity.

  8. First off, it shouldn't be evolution vs creation, it should be abiogenisis vs the creation of life. Evolution is just how life changed over time, so a creator could have created the first life forms and help them evolve over time. Second, you don't have to be an atheist to use the scientific method. My grandfather was a chemist and a Christian. In his work, he used the scientific method all the time. And third, even if you proved a god created everything, how do you know it was your specific god?

  9. So you're literally stating that angels alter reality… Slams head against desk. Look mate, believe what you want, I really don't take a problem with your personal religious belief. In saying that however, if you are going to talk about science, I do expect better then… Well, whatever this is. You brought up two "arguments." One was the fine tuning of the universe (which is odd, because we can't inhabit the vast majority of the universe), and you misapply probabilities, whilst not even showing the calculations of how you got to that number. And you also grossly misrepresented cosmogony too.Edit: I will commend you for opening up yourself to criticism in the comment sections though. It's a sad state of affairs when many creationists do not foster discussions on their channels and simply close off the comment sections as well as hide the like to dislike ratio. But when that's all I can commend you for doing, it's not a good look man.

  10. He says it, "not between and faith and certain facts…. between faith and faith" lol. I guess we should toss out all the scientific evidence and believe the poor logical arguments instead? Old, debunked ideas like fine tuning are not worth repeating or arguing against. The best thing about this is that it doesn't really need to be a one or the other thing, the Catholic church supports evolution (at least they acknowledge the science) and creation. Evolution is only about how species change over time, how it got here doesn't matter to the theory.
